This staircase is situated in a converted grade II-listed Georgian building that at one time served as the stables too a long lost Country Estate in Foots Cray (Bexleyheath). The whole development was an exercise in how to merge the old with the new. The brief was to design a feature staircase and landing area that would be modern, light and practical, yet sympathetic to its particular setting. The resulting design features laminated glass treads and mid platform with a toughened glass balustrade capped by a stainless steel handrail, leading to an underlit structural glass landing area.
